This is a new thread to follow the travels of these three young ospreys from the Loch Garten nest.
Oighrig
This male juvenile is the elder of the 2013 brood, hatched on 25th May and fledged on 16th July.
Oighrig’s ring is Blue/white CF5
Breagha
Also male, the younger of the 2013 brood, hatched 28th May and fledged on 19th July.
Breagha’s ring is Blue/white CF4.

Caledonia
Hatched on 16th May 2012, fledged on 14th July and left Loch Garten on 19th August.
The travels of Caledonia and her sister Alba were first followed in this thread, now closed. Caledonia is the first juvenile osprey tracked from Loch Garten to settle in Europe; she has been living on the northern outskirts of Seville for nearly a year now.
Caledonia’s ring is Blue/White AA1, reading downwards. LG blog on the ringing and tagging of Caledonia & Alba.
Breagha updated on Google Earth to 29/04, no change
Thanks, Alan--phew again! Do you know if any other tagged Ospreys have spent time in the past in the same area where Breagha is?
Kind regards, Ann
Thanks Alan - its good to hear he is still doing OK.

Gardenbirder
I can think of two, both tagged as adults by Roy Dennis
Red 8T
Tracked 2009 -13, his wintering site is about 20 miles from Breagha's area, on the north bank of the Casamance.
His transmitter has failed, but he has been seen back at his nest on Speyside this spring; he will be 13 this year.
Blue XD
This is an interesting one, given XD's dalliance with EJ last spring. Roy subsequently tagged Blue XD and found he spent the winter in "the outer marshes of the River Casamance" - less than 10 miles from Breagha's haunts. Also back on Speyside, he will be 16 (estimated) this year.
Thanks Sue C. I was just going to mention BlueXD. All the indications are that this is a good area for ospreys.
VERY interesting SUE So hope Breagha continues in this area then and we see HIM heading N next year
Breagha updated on Google Earth to 7th May.. No change. Still ranging in the same area. :
Thanks, Sue and Alan. Very interesting that Blue XD winters not far from where Breagha is. Perhaps there is some way of doing a DNA test (on feathers, perhaps?) so we could know if Blue XD is Breagha's father or not! Do you know if Blue XD and Red 8T are related?
Breagha updated on Google Earth to 15th May : No change:
Latest fixes for Breagha who has now survived longer than any LG tagged chicks apart from Caledonia and Rothes.
