This is a new thread to follow the travels of these three young ospreys from the Loch Garten nest.
Oighrig
This male juvenile is the elder of the 2013 brood, hatched on 25th May and fledged on 16th July.
Oighrig’s ring is Blue/white CF5
Breagha
Also male, the younger of the 2013 brood, hatched 28th May and fledged on 19th July.
Breagha’s ring is Blue/white CF4.

Caledonia
Hatched on 16th May 2012, fledged on 14th July and left Loch Garten on 19th August.
The travels of Caledonia and her sister Alba were first followed in this thread, now closed. Caledonia is the first juvenile osprey tracked from Loch Garten to settle in Europe; she has been living on the northern outskirts of Seville for nearly a year now.
Caledonia’s ring is Blue/White AA1, reading downwards. LG blog on the ringing and tagging of Caledonia & Alba.
If you look at GE you will see that Caledonia roosted close to Lac de Tetine on the night of 25th August 2012, (chez Breagha) passing as close as 3 miles from the Lac. So did she roost there? The last point on the 25th may be the roost and the following morning she was on her way just south of Chinon. The straight line passes directly over Chinon, having just clipped the villages of Avoine and Beaumont en Veron.
If the 25th marks her roost, close by is the Etang de Hautes Belles, maybe a fishing opportunity.
On the 22nd July 2012 I visited Chinon by car and drove passing the nuclear power plant and Beaumont en Veron, driving north the get back on the autoroute at Bourgueil.

New blog from Richard, with a self-explanatory title
Nae Change
There's a new Blog from Richard, and where Breagh's concerned it's all change!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

Thank you Clare

So Breagha is presumably in Africa by now slogging his way through Morocco.
Let's hope so.
Doesnt the tracking always finish at the wrong time leaving us up in the air! What a trek for him but at least we know he has the fuel for the long journey ahead of him over the desert.
Yes he has had a good stopover.
