MARGOBIRD  GARY   Got it wrong. Phoebe the Basset has pancreatitis and not peritonitis. Turns out that because of this she now has a damaged heart and also has had a mini stroke sometime during the last 48 hours. The vet hopes they have caught it in time before too much damage is done. She has been on a drip on and off since last Thursday but all is not lost.

Friend came for lunch and we had my delicious (it really is ) fish chowder. I then came out in sympathy with Hamish and had a 2 hour appt for cut and foils. Yup I am feeling the cold too Hamish.Off to start the evening meal (tuna waldorf with broccolli cheese and brown rice. Got on the scales this am and got off again PDQ. Must definitely cut out the cakes I have been having when we go out for coffee!!!

Hi Alan don't know if you have been on the owl site lately but host has put a message on the left side of page saying about that 2 two of the owlets have died  and that they have 4 doing well and one doing not so well just been on and someone has put in their blog that another one has died so don't know if they are referring to one of the one's i know about or if it's the one host was saing that wasn't doing so well so sad but thats nature.

this was sent to us from friends in Sydney. Friends of theirs had sent it to them and it is taken during the bush fires in Jan 2009. Obviously Koalas are not usually this happy with people which just shows how desparate they were. Thank goodness there were people around to help 

Alicat: Sorry to hear about the owlets. I have not been watching that cam much as their is so much going on now it is hard to keep up with everything.

Weather is fairly nondescript, in these parts.  Thankfully dry but not too sure whether it wants to be sunny or cloudy.  Definate signs of spring time, with buds starting to appear on plants.  The birds definately seem a lot more energetic.

Caerann:  That's a gorgeous snowy owl picture.  Thanks for the link.

Annette:  Sorry you had to abandon the whale count.  Hope the winds where you are don't cause any bother.

OG:  Glad you're going through a good phase with health.  Here's hoping the good weather keeps up.

Alan:  Thanks for all the links and the photos.  Sorry to hear Hamish got soaked.  I'm sure he'll get over the shock of his hair cut soon.

margobird:  I know exactly what you mean about finding time to look at all the webcams and watch the ospreys when they return.

Lake District osprey site are testing out a new feature which looks good:

"We are testing a new feature where our nest camera automatically uploads video segments to our Flickr. These are test images. We hope that once the birds arrive this feature will capture video of the birds on the nest every day. "

Gary – making up for lost chatting time I see!  Sorry you are not feeling too good – pleased you are managing to put a brave face on it and not make a fuss! 

Annette – good that more is being done for wildlife – such as the bridge you mentioned being built to enable the channel to be re-opened.  This is better all round – so many highway and housing “developments” block watercourses, upset the natural flow of water and add to flooding.

Alicat – sad about Owlets, but it was a large brood, so now more chance for the others to make healthy young birds.

Dibnlib – poor wee Koala – I assume that is smoke washing off in the water.

Alan - lovely capture of Lily and Hope – she definitely seems to be doing very well – despite all the washng!

Hi, Heron.  Your weather was very similar to ours today.  I hope we get some more dry days – want to suggest OH might do some digging in the veg patch – raised beds, so they drain quite well, and don’t have to be dug deep.

Currently working on church website – having a new one, supposed to be easier to manage input – we’ll see!  Now time for me to look at its “public face” to assess what he’s done.
