Weekly Chat, Sunday, February 28, 2010

Evening all. Wonderful rainbow over Santa Barbara this afternoon; more like April with heavy showers then sunshine.  Don't forget to check last week's chat for Tiger's link to the Roy Dennis site about a French osprey that's already completed its migration, and Patriciat's recommendations for places to eat in Grantown (for when we all go to visit OG's son!).   :-)

  • Godo morning  Caerann and yes I am so relieved it was not the most pleasant week I have ever had.

How wonderful to be able to see a Cooper's Hawk so close up.

  • Good morning aquilareen and I did stay sober but must admit to a couple of glasses of wine in the evening.  Such a relief I can tell you.  Now I am enjoying a lovely sunny day although it was very frosty first thing.  Garden birds showing signs of courtship and they are fascinating to watch.  I love Spring when all the trees start to get their new dresses as I say.  Crocus out and daffodils just about in bud so that will add some colour to everything.  Mornings are lighter and it does not get dark till about 6 now and in a few weeks time the clocks go forward so all in all my world is a lot brighter after the good news.

    Have a good day.

  • Morning ALICAT and as you say such a relief to find there was not a problem.  the week I waited seemed like month and it is hard to put it our of your mind.  I was quite good until yesterday and got myself in quite a flap so it was good that I found out all was well while i was at the hospital.  OH is going to treat me to another Chinese meal on Sunday so looking forward to that.

    Have a good day.

  • Morning patriciat and yes I am enjoying life again.  Since I posted yesterday I have now booked a week on a farm in Somerset later in the year.  Going with a friend again who is blind but she so enjoyed it we are booked for a week in October.  Really looking forward to Venice.  We were supposed to go 3 years ago but the week before we were to leave my Dad died so it had to be cancelled.  It just looks wonderful there.

    Have a good day.

  • Good morning george g and thanks.  Makes you realise when something like this happens how important it is to live and enjoy every day.

Lucky you seeing 2 sea eagles, I am very envious.  Hope they do decide to base themselves there so you will be able to see a lot more of them.

Margobird  just absolutely SPLENDID news. So thrilled for you.

OG I too hope Maureen/Hilary re-surfaces soon. I’m very worried now.

Ahhhh – the Avocets OG  - just wonderful. Thank you.

AQ Thanks so much again.  I’ll tackle my sister about it all next time I phone her.

Off to do a few outdoor chores whilst the sun it out. Namely, sweeping my patio from all the winter crud and cleaning the steps that lead down into my garden proper from all the fat ball bits which are coating several of them and acting as a wonderful fertilizer for growing all the fallen seeds from the seed feeder. Ah well. I’d rather have to do it than not have any birds.

There’s a lovely shot of Skye and Frisa on the Mull Eagle blog for those of you who haven’t looked in on the latest blog. And, at long last, after the intruder ruined everything another (or one of the original pair) is taking an interest in the Hilton Head nest again.
