Evening all. Wonderful rainbow over Santa Barbara this afternoon; more like April with heavy showers then sunshine. Don't forget to check last week's chat for Tiger's link to the Roy Dennis site about a French osprey that's already completed its migration, and Patriciat's recommendations for places to eat in Grantown (for when we all go to visit OG's son!). :-)
Morning all. Another stunning day here, although an icy start to the day. It was so nice I stopped off on the way back from a shopping mission and had a walk down by St Mary's Island. No birds of note on the shore as the tide was way out, but I did notice a field full of curlew and lapwings. I also noticed the crocuses were in bloom along the verges - yippeee! I took this photo - hope it doesn't disappear - it's only an island when the tide's in!
Patriciat - Sorry about your sciatica - 2 weeks is a long time to wait for an appointment. Keep moaning if you wish - what better place than this to get things off your chest - we'll listen and give sympathy :))
Margobird - won't be long until Thursday and hopefully some of the stress will be removed.
OG - I won't be joining the gingerbread party - I love gingerbread , but it doesn't love me!
Alan - thanks for the info on the returning osprey - I keep checking the birdguide site too - and thanks for the Molly barn owl link - she's just gorgeous!
Thanks to everyone else for history/ chat/ links/ pics etc
Take care all

Good afternoon DjoanS and that really is a stunning photograph. Just look at that clear blue sky, something which has not been in evidence much of late.

Thanks Tiger wonderful as you say. Great close ups as well.
DjoanS : Lovely picture. Just sums up todays weather.
Here is an interesting site in Canada where they help the ospreys with nesting and if they get into trouble:

Thanks you so much dibnlib I will just be glad to get Thursday over and hopefully being wiser than I am now. I realise there may be many reasons why there are abnormal cells. I have even wondered whether the bad fall I had last year has anything to do with it because I had terriblue bruising in this area.

Margobird - Think I know you well enough to know this won't offend you - I loved the expression "terriblue bruising" - from your description after that fall, I guess that just about sums it up!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
I wish you could see me oringinal goldfinch I am helpless with laughter at my spelling yet again, but you are right it does sum it up quite well.
Thanks for that link Alan can never get enough of anything osprey.
Just took this screenshot at Dunedin. Feeding time and the chicks are getting big:
