Hello Bloggers,

We are all very excited to announce that two chicks have hatched over the past two days! The first one hatched between 7-7.30 pm on Tuesday night and the second hatched around 6.30 am this morning (Thursday 18th). Talons crossed that we will get a third chick in the next few days.

EJ feeding her two bairns

Odin has upped his daily fishing quota already from one fish a day to three in order to feed his expanding family and, as per usual, EJ is being a fantastic mum, keeping them warm and feeding them regularly. She rips the fish into tiny pieces and delivers them directly into the chick’s beaks. She will feed them the lovely fleshy bits and keep the boney or scaly bits for herself... they’re already spoilt rotten! You will all have to hurry down and see them before they get too big! They will balloon from this size to adult size in as little as 6-7 weeks. This is one of the most entertaining stages of the breeding season: a) because of the cuteness factor, and b) because of the fact that the chicks heads are far too big for them to control at this point so they wobble around like bobble heads!

Life was much simpler with just one chick!

Bye for just now, we will keep you updated. Oh, and if you liked this blog then give it a like!
