33 avocet! 2 bitterns! Spring is springing with abundance at Langford. Caspian gull, whooper swan and 6 LRP's were good additions to this months WeBS species list, with the last few remaining wigeon and goldeneyes providing our the last suggestions of winter.

There are loads of sand martins darting around Langford at the moment, with 4 hobbies seen yesterday (30th April) and the first swifts of the year also seen this week. Grasshopper warblers are reeling and Phase 3 is still luring in a good selection of waders, including a pectoral sandpiper on Good Friday. Phase 3 can be easily viewed from the perimeter footpath, which can now be accessed via the new stile on the western edge of Phase 1 (the bit of the site open to the public). Hop over the stile, turn left following the Trent Valley Way and you'll soon be greeted by the wonders of Phase 3. There were a few whimbrel down there last Friday (26th April) as well as a flock of yellow wagtails.
