….by Langford standards at least! My walk around the site this afternoon was very productive, with some good waders for the site, almost continuous display of hobbies overhead and a few other things thrown in there too! Highlights include….
2 greenshank on Phase 3
1 green sandpiper and 1 common sandpiper on Phase 3
6 dunlin on Phase 3, feeding in a flock with 3 ringed plover
1 ruff on Phase 3 – my first on site since 2011, a real pleasure to see this at Langford
Many snipe feeding on Phases 1 and 2
Still 350+ lapwing on Phase 1
3 hobby – very vocal and almost constantly interacting with each other in between periods of feeding
A juvenile shelduck on Phase 3
Kingfisher on Phase 1
Great spotted woodpecker calling from the large oak trees on the public footpath opposite silt lagoon 6 and chiffchaffs calling from the Phase 1 scrub
Small flocks of linnets feeding on thistle heads across Phases 2 and 3
A water rail calling from Phase 2
