I mentioned this in the previous blog, but water levels are high on the reserve at the moment and set to get higher, with us having no way of getting rid of the excess water. It is likely that we'll have to close the boardwalk and potentially other sections of the trail if they get too wet, over the next few days. We're also keeping a close eye on the river, with there being a flood warning in place. I would recommend wellies if you're visiting.

The winter ducks (wigeon, goldeneye and pintail) are starting to arrive and snipe numbers are also building. Keep an eye out for them bursting from the reeds, making a squelchy kind of noise as they take off. Keep an eye on the big geese flock too as we may well draw in some more unusual species (for Notts) as the winter progresses.
