We all love electricity but those power lines which carry the electricity need maintenance and the big pylon near our car park is next on the list.

The line turns at ‘our’ pylon (Number 55) and this makes it a special one so National Grid contractors will be setting up a large compound around it.

Work starts on 15 Feb and continues until 6 May. They will replace the power lines on one side and then there will be a break before they do the other side from 27 June until 23 August.

How will this affect our valued visitors?

Unfortunately there will be disruption as you arrive at the RSPB car park and you may have to wait until you are waved through the work area by National Grid staff.  You could be delayed by 10-15 minutes.

It might be best if you avoid visiting the reserve this week (15-18 Feb) whilst the work compound is being set up, as this is the time when vast amounts of equipment will have to be moved in.

We are really sorry about this because we want you all to see our wonderful reserve, and the wildlife that lives here.  However these works are essential and National Grid staff will be doing their very best to minimize the disruption.  If you do come, please help them to get the job done safely and efficiently.

Watch this space!  As the work progresses we will keep you up to date.

It will not take forever, and then the peregrines can have their favourite perch back, all to themselves.
