What a cracking start to the year with some top birds dropping in already, from handsome male wheater and a pair of garganey, through to the old favourites of hobby and marsh harrier.

Langford Lowfields is certainly blossoming at the moment and keeping up with the birds on site, especially when they are passing through, like the bar-tailed godwits last week, not to mention yesterdays wood sandpipers, can get taxing - even for those of us that work on the reserve.

If you get the chance to follow my tweets then I'll be updating the records as much as possible while the Langford and Beckingham team are out and about. The first few twitters have been twittered with today being as good a test of my tweeting skills as any... a young female marsh harrier gliding over the phase 1 reedbed, 4 hobby darting around after the freshly emerged four spotted chasers, 2 common tern looking for food up and down the balancing ponds, and the cheerful but solitary cuckoo is ever present.

To catch the updates just log on to Mcopleston on twitter, and let me know if you find it helpful, there may well be a few late night tweets as I'm sure you know I do like a nocturnal search for moths, bats and long eared owls so be prepared for anything!

Well here goes, I'll twitter on and hopefully you'll get to hear and see a few more of Langfords best birds...
