Just a quick blog, but I wanted to let you know that if visiting Langford, the Seasonal Trail is now closed for the year, this is both to reduce disturbance to wildfowl, because we're drawing near to the time when bittern start prospecting for nest sites and also because water levels are rising fast and the Seasonal Trail is the lowest lying path on the reserve, I imagine by the end of the week it'll start disappearing underwater. Unfortunately, the rapidly rising water has also meant that both the Floating Bridge and Boardwalk will be closed from 1pm tomorrow (19th Jan), the boardwalk will soon be submerged and there is a chance as the water keeps rising, that the bridge will need to float free from it's support posts. We are reviewing the situation on a daily basis and are currently hoping that the Trent doesn't come over the flood-bank again (as it did in 2020). Even if this doesn't happen though, there is still a chance we might have to close the reserve if water levels reach the point where sections of trails start flooding. Slough Dyke, which follows the southern and western boundary of the site, is currently spilling over into the reserve, so I'd recommend avoiding that section of the perimeter footpath at the moment.
