With no major rain or snowfall recently and Tarmac’s pumps working at full pelt, the water levels here at Langford are starting to drop quite rapidly – much to everyone’s relief! We are noticing a difference on an almost daily basis now, with more and more features revealed each day, many of which we haven’t seen for two and a half months!
Here are some of today’s pictures showing everything being revealed….
Phase 2 starting to look a bit like a reedbed again!
The bund between Phase 2 and the old silt lagoon 7 - we can now walk around Phase 2 without getting wet feet....
One of our sluices, still in place and undamaged.
The water level gauge board on Phase 1 reading 4.17 metres AOD (Above Ordnance Datum - 'above sea level'). This gauge board was reading 3.12 metres AOD just before the flood and probably would have read around 6-7 metres AOD at the height of the flood (had it been long enough!).
