Due to an outbreak of Trichomoniasis, we have had to suspend feeding the Birds at our Coed y Capel hide and outside the RSPB shop at Lake Vyrnwy.

Trichononas gallinae is a single celled parasite that can cause a disease known as trichomonosis in British Birds.

The disease was first seen in British finch species in the summer of 2005. It has continued to cause  death in finches in 2008, 2009, and 2010. The number of outbreaks usually peaks in the late summer and autumn months, and birds are affected over a wide geographical area across the UK.

We hope to reinstate our usual feeding regime in about three weeks time.

For further information about this disease please consult www.ufaw.org.uk or contact us at Lake Vyrnwy.
