Good morning. It is now only three weeks until our Summer Family Fun Day on the reserve, which will take place on Sunday 20 August 10am-4pm. There will be a variety of activities on offer.

As long as the weather is kind to us, the main activity will be a bird ringing demonstration will be be run by Simon Evans our local bird ringer. This will provide attendees with an opportunity to see some of our resident birds at close quarters while they are measured, ringed and let go. If you are lucky, you may even get a chance to hold a bird and release it yourself. Here are some photos from a similar event last year:

Now that our water levels have come up again, there will also be the opportunity to do some pond dipping to find out what bugs and beasts lurk underneath the reserve pools. Again, here are a couple of photos of last year's event:

There will be mini beast hunting on offer and there will also be the chance to try out our new nature connections trail around the Brandon Fen family trail. There are five challenged to complete around the trail and each child will receive  a goody bag once they have completed it.
