Good afternoon. Our Spring Family Fun Day takes place in just over a week's time so here are some more details of what we have planned for the day.

Weather permitting, the headlining act will be that our grazier, Granger Harrison will be bringing along some of his livestock to show. He is planning to bring a hand reared goat along with some cattle, sheep and chickens. You should be able to pet some of them  so here are some pictures of some of the grazing animals that help us to manage the reserve:

It will also be the first opportunity of the year to find out what is lurking under the depths of the reserve pools by doing some pond dipping. Early April can be a great time to do this and if the sun is shining, we are likely to find a good variety of species. Here are some pictures of pond dipping on the reserve from last year:

There will also be the opportunity to go on a mini beast safari to find out what creepy crawlies are out and about on the reserve. We are likely to find things like spiders, beetles and snails. If we are lucky, we might even find some impressive species such as this common stretch spider:

There will be a trail around the reserve to find out who is singing on the reserve at this time of year and each child will receive a goody bag at the end of the event. This is a drop-in style event so you can either spend a couple of hours here or make the day of it.

We hope to see you there!
