Hello and welcome to the latest blog- this time it's a little different from the usual- as it's got the results from today's Race for Wildlife in it! Thanks to ALL of our runners for booking onto and attending our Race- your support makes the world of different to not just the wildlife here but also our morale- it is heartening for the staff and volunteers to have seen the reserve and the Visitor Centre busy with friendly and eager runners after three years without our annual event. Talking of volunteers, before I go any further I want to emphasise how important our volunteers have been- through all their different tasks- marshalling, staffing the Visitor Centre, preparing the signage and other roles besides- they have made hosting an event like this possible once again. We are truly grateful to every one of them.In total, we had 86 people book on to the event- 84 before the day and two today- and a make-up of 36 ladies and 30 gents in the 66 that turned up on the day. It's also thanks to our volunteers, and our warden Emma- that we have a wealth of lovely photos to share which we will publicise next week when we've had time to go through them. If you are one of the people who didn't tick the box to consent for your photos to be used- don't worry- we have made a note of this and won't be keeping them beyond when we sort through them next week.Onto the results, then- the best way to view them is by clicking on the link below:

It's looking as if- when we tally up not only our ticket sales but also funds from catering and donations, we'll have made £1500+ in revenue, which is huge for us. And it's all down to you runners putting foot to floor and... well... racing for wildlife. If you have any feedback about today's event, or how we could improve in the future, we'd love to know- please feel free to pop in and tell us next time you are passing, telephone us on 01842 863400 or e-mail us at lakenheath@rspb.org.uk if it's easier. Or, you can drop us a message in our inbox on Facebook (RSPB Lakenheath Fen) or Twitter (RSPBLakenheath). With best wishes,Heidi Jones (Visitor Experience Officer).
