Good morning. Our Race for Wildlife 2016 is now only a month and a half away! On Sunday 16 October, two multi-terrain courses of 5 kilometres and 10 kilometres will be way-marked around the reserve. The 10k route will include parts of the reserve that are not usually open to the public, so this is your annual chance to explore different parts of this beautiful fenland reserve. Registration closes at 10.30am and the event will begin at 11am. Please note that the start is approximately half a mile from the visitor centre so please take this into account when you arrive.
Participants are welcome to race, run, jog or walk around either course. There will be medals for first, second and third place for the first three males and females participating in each distance. Here is 10k winner Martin Ineson showing off his medal after the 2013 event:

This year, for the first time, every participant will receive a medal, regardless of their finishing position and time. Here is photo of one of this year's medals:

Every participant will also receive a goody bag. Homemade cakes and refreshments will also be for sale in the visitor centre after the event. A secure baggage area will be available free of charge and the toilets will be open throughout the event.
There is an entrance charge of £10 per participant and registration is in advance by following this link. There are still plenty of spaces available. There is free parking for this event.
The age limit for entrants running on their own is 16. Under 16's are welcome to take part but they must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
Please ring 01842 863400 or e-mail lakenheath@rspb.org.uk; for more information about this event.
I will leave you with some images of the event from last year:
