We have now completed our Black Guillemot (tystie) survey for the whole of the Oa reserve's coastline.

This survey counts adult tysties in breeding plumage during April along the coast. Our first survey round in early April gave us a total of 136 adults, followed by 135 on our second round later in the month. This seems like a pretty healthy population, however since this is the first time this survey has been carried out using this method, it is difficult to say. It does though give us a baseline to compare against in the future.
