I currently experiencing some blog related technical issues which mean I can't put photos up and a blog without photos just isn't as good. I'm also struggling to even submit a blog....so I'll keep this short! Today during the farmland birds and winter thrush survey I saw some really nice flocks. During the farmland birds I saw 60 twite, 56 chaffinch, 22 reed buntings, 34 skylark (which was a very nice and unusual sight to me!) and 15 fieldfare in a flock with about 25 redwing. It's always worth peering into some of the fields around Loch Gruinart as well as going to the hides and walking the trails. The winter thrush was much quieter but there were still lots of blackbirds and a few song thrush...unfortunately the redwing and fieldfare of earlier didn't count! Of the non feathered variety there were lots of roe deer on both the moorland and woodland trail, I saw 12 and I'm sure there were a few I didn't see too! Anyway I'm keeping this short in case it doesn't work again! The web team are working away though and hopefully I'll be able to post something more interesting soon!
