A weekly picture from The Oa reserve on Islay:

Visitors to The Oa reserve generally know to look for golden eagle, chough and hen harrier, but it is easy to overlook the extensive coastal habitat used by variety of coastal and sea birds.  Oystercatchers (above) and gannets are conspicuous, but other species present include common sandpipers, kittiwakes, fulmars, shags and auks such as guillemots, black guillemots and razorbills.  Keep your eyes and ears peeled if you are walking along the cliff tops on the circular trail.

Moth Friday:

Moth Friday was on a Thursday this week, so all specimens were released with plenty of time to vote on Thursday afternoon!  It was a blustery night, but we reached 10 species in the trap for the first time this year.
