Hard to see, I know, but if you look in the centre of the shot just behind the heather there is our first calf of the year at the Oa, cunningly trying to conceal itself as a piece of moorland shrubbery. One of our Highland cows popped this one out sometime last night. The distinctive white face means it has been sired by our Simmental bull - we cross breed some of our Highland cows for greater growth rate in the resulting calves.
One down, about another hundred or so to go. And then we start on the lambs...
