The Oa geese have been jumpy today, regularly flying around in a panic and sitting on loch Kinnabus rather than grazing in the fields. About 400 Greenland white-fronts are now here along with a few hundred barnacles and greylags.

The geese tend to head for the water if they sense a threat. Sometimes it's difficult to work out what has spooked them, but a quick scan at lunch today revealed the resident pair of golden eagles soaring about above them and this monster of juvenile white-tailed sea eagle flapping through lower over the loch. The geese have good reason to panic as both of these species of eagle are quite capable of taking a goose.

One day i will take a good photo of an eagle.
