The new Islay blog is still finding its feet at the minute, but one feature proving popular already is Dave's brave recurring attempts to photograph one of the resident Golden eagles in a manner where it is actually identifiable. If only they'd sit still in a specimen pot on the desk, like this female Shaded pug moth. Dave caught this one in our light trap on The Oa reserve back in July, but its identity has only just been confirmed today - many thanks to Danny Arnold. It's the first time this species has been recorded on Islay.
