On 28 August a varied group of keen and enthusiastic people armed with cameras ranging from DSLRs to 'point and press' met at the car park for a photography walk. Mhairi led the walk and our first port of call was the duck feeding station where there were plenty of ducks, coots, moorhens and gulls about. They didn't get any food, but plenty of photos were taken.
Aye, Aye, Cap'n.
We headed for the old beacon, stopping en route at Red Clay Pond. There were various insects around, all posing nicely for their photographs.

Debbie in action!
Close to the pond we found some waxcap fungi which had not been recorded on the reserve before.
Mhairi pointed out possible photographic subjects.
Just above Red Clay Pond, Andy stopped to take a panorama:
At the old Beacon and White Rock area, some landscape photography took place and we found more waxcap fungi.
Chris talked about more photographic opportunities and Andy was on hand to give advice and assistance when needed.
It was hard to drag everyone away as they were so enthusiastic and concentrating on taking photos. It was a very enjoyable couple of hours with some very good results. Hopefully we'll be able to have some more of these walks in the future. You can see a photo of the group in Mhairi's blog " Hodbarrow News".
Great photos, hopefully I can join in on the next one

Brilliant day Chris and a brilliant blog! It was a great day because of the variety of experience of those who attended. It just goes to show everyone can enjoy taking photos of nature with whatever gear they have and where better than Hodbarrow.
Very much looking forward to another, let's not leave it too long! This was a very successful walk. Many thanks to everyone who came along and in particular Chris who did a great job sharing her expertise and putting together the above blog.
