Blustery weather today on the point almost blew me away! I love days like this when the weathers wild you can go have a tramp about come back into a nice cuppa and the heating (if you've got it on yet!) I was away at the weekend so haven't had much of a chance to update the blog so here's a quick update.
I had my first of the winter thrushes overhead last week 25th of October with Fieldfares passing over the reserve near to the old light house. I haven't seen the scaup or Slavonian Grebe that was present for alot of September and October.
When I was down this morning (before the rain!) There were large numbers of Teal and Red-Breasted Merganser to the right of the island out of the hide. In the scrub we have many parties of birds including long -tailed tit, bullfinch, blue-tit etc. Lapwing have started to grow in numer particularly liking the wet fields that surround the reserve particularly to the east of the reserve.
Finally Colin made me aware of Little Egret coming into roost last night opposite the duck feeding platform. I was down at 5.00pm and there were five in the trees over the otherside of the water.
(Poor quality photo from my phone but you can just about see the five white spots that are Egrets ...honest!)
If you have any other sightings please let me know.

I hope you get the general impression from the pretty poor photo (thanks for pointing that out Norm!) If anyone else has any better ones please put them up.
Can't quite make out the yellow feet on these!!!!
