We have survived another high tide and storm this weekend at Hodbarrow and Haverigg. We will be writing a blog about that soon.

On the reserve today the wind was still quite strong and was fairly rattling the doors of the hide. Having a look out from the hide I couldn't find our Slavonian Grebe which was first seen a couple of weeks ago. There were plenty of Goldeneye with Tufted duck, pochard, red-breasted mergansers with them. A single cormorant hiding among our resident canada geese sunning itself on the island as well.

Elsewhere on the reserve there are nice numbers of bullfinches including a flock of 5 near to the quarry pool. Also in the pools around that part of the reserve there were a flock of  at least 7 Gadwall. Wader numbers at Haverigg are quite high with redshanks, turnstone, curlew, oystercatcher, dunlin and lapwing feeding on the mud there.

As usual any sighting feel free to add to the board in hide or let me know here.

Thanks Mhairi
