A good broad range of sightings across the Hayle Estuary reserves this week including:

  • An immature spoonbill who has been with us for most of the winter
  • Water rail have been spotted a couple of times in Ryan's field (the area in front of the hide)
  • Great northern diver, goosander and red-breasted merganser are frequenting Carnsew Pool, the harbour area and the estuary up at Lelant Saltings
  • A couple of bar-tailed godwit and greenshank have also been observed at Lelant Saltings
  • Dunlin and redshank are well distributed across the site and grey plover are also being seen
  • Rock and water pipits
  • Little grebe
  • Lapwing in Ryan's Field and on the estuary
  • The odd sanderling and ringed plover

Not many reports on the kingfisher, peregrine or sparrowhawk!
