At Hayle, a Little Ringed Plover took up residence early in the month at Ryan’s Field and on occasion could be found in the car park there presumably looking to nest! It was last seen 9th May. An immature Ring-billed Gull was at Ryan’s Field and Lelant Water 1st – 3rd May and a female Red-breasted Merganser likewise 16th-17th. A Spoonbill arrived on 10th and was joined by another bird for a couple of days but waders have been few and far between this spring and 120 Dunlin, 20 Ringed Plover with 6 Sanderling on 9th May represented one of the better days. Since the end of May, it has been very quiet at both sites with nothing exceptional to report.
