Hi guys, long time no see!

We're just letting you know that Greylake will be closed on 30 January 2023 (for up to 5 days) and Swell Wood will be shut on 1 February 2023. This is due to conservation management work using heavy machinery that will be moving around the site; we need to restrict public access for health and safety reasons.

Over at Greylake, the gates will be shut at 8am on Monday 30 January. The work involves pollarding and coppicing the variety of willows around the reserve. These processes are a key part of opening up views, maintaining the paths, and prolonging the life of the trees. See our previous blog for more information.

Swell Wood will be shut at 4pm on Tuesday 31 January. A few large trees in the car park are needing some attention. You may have already noticed the recent coppicing work we have started to help introduce more sunlight. Benefits include the creation of a more varied habitat for wildlife such as marsh tits and maintaining safe access.

Stay tuned for some upcoming blogs as the new resi vols get to grips with life in the levels. We’re hoping to update you guys weekly from now on!
