If you spend a bit of time late morning around the picnic area when there aren't any other visitors passing through it, you'll hear and sometimes see a spotted flycatcher. Being seen since last week, it regularly perches up on the pedestrian gates in the picnic area. So any of you that like a bit of photography, do send us your photos greylake@rspb.org.uk of this rare visiting bird. This is the second year running that we have had a spotted flycatcher at Greylake. These birds usually like dense ivy to build their nests in, and there are a few trees dotted around the car park that are very suitable for spotted flycatchers. Arriving usually in early to mid May, this bird is a later summer migrant than most, and will be here til late summer, returning to its wintering home in August. So get your camera out and spot that flycatcher!
