The reserve is STILL OPEN!! But we are closing the hide at Greylake from 26th September for essential work, to lay a new stone path. This is the second section of path we have created to replace the old wooden boardwalk. From this path to the hide we are creating a raised boardwalk to a second hide, which is slightly raised compared to the first hide. We are aiming to have this hide ready within the next month, in time for the return of wintering ducks and wading birds such as lapwing and golden plover. We will then have two fantastic sheltered areas to view wildlife during the winter months, both accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs alike.
The rest of the reserve trails will still be open, the grass snake trail to our willow viewing screen, for visitors who'd like to go 'off road', and the dragonfly trail around the pond to the platform and back along the same path will still be open. Please be aware of additional contractors vehicles travelling along the drove at the reserve though.
We hope you enjoy your visit and please do complete a visitor questionnaire available at the information trailer in the picnic area, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Here's some photos of work so far and we'll let you know when both hides are open and ready for use!!
