The Gallery at RSPB Geltsdale is launching Impressions of the Wild a new programme of exhibitions and workshops which celebrate Geltsdale's dramatic landscape and wildlife.

 

Over the next 16 months the gallery, is hosting six exhibitions featuring local artists who take their inspiration from wildlife and the countryside. 

 

The first exhibition is Wingspan an exhibition by Cumbria-based textile artist Helen Walsh and poet Nick Robinson, which runs from Monday 26 February to Monday 21 May. Helen will also be running a workshop for the public creating textile wall hangings inspired by nature on Saturday 28 April.

 

Other artists exhibiting as part of the Impressions of the Wild programme are jewellery maker and visual artist Amanda Mudge (May to August); sculptor and painter Mark Gibbs (August to October), Carlisle Youth Zone (October); printer Vega Brennan (November to January 2019), and finally illustrator Katie Lock (February to April 2019).

 

The programme will feature a series of follow on exhibitions at Carlisle Library.
