School's out for summer. School's out forever! (Well, not quite)

Songs by veteran rocker Alice Cooper aside, schools have now either broken up for summer or are just about to in the next couple of days. So what do we have on for kids?

Well, running right through the holidays we have a treasure trail. Various clues hidden around the reedbed trail (just over a mile in length). You can pick up a trail sheet from the visitor centre, then set out to find them all. They are all based around the idea of "Giving Nature a Home" and, if you get the answers right, when you return to the centre tyou win a prize! £1 per child to take part, last entry an hour before the visitor centre shuts (4pm weekdays, 5pm weekends).

Every Thursday during the holidays you can come to one of our guided pond dipping sessions. A chance for you to find what weird and wonderful wildlife lives in our weedy water at the pond. Sessions throughout the day, but limited numbers on each so you really do need to book.

Of course, if you come on any day you can still do pond dipping with our net hire. But this way you get an expert to help tell you what things are, and for exactly the same price (£2 per child).

On Fridays we are doing bug hunting. Mini-monsters lurk in the grass, under logs or in trees, dare you look for them? As with the pond dipping there is a limited group size, so please call to book on 01204 724678 or email lincolnshirewashreserves@rspb.org.uk

We also have family fun days on the Sundays of 4 August and 1 September. Plus the 'Big Wild Sleepout' on Saturday 10 August. Have you heard of this? A chance to bribng your tent to the reserve and spend the night under the stars, surrounded by nature. We'll also look for moths and bats, and listen out for owls. Places for this are exceedingly limited, so you really must book for it.

All in all, sounds like a fun summer!

Reedbed, freshwater scrapes, saltmarsh and wet meadow. Frampton Marsh has it all! Come and pay us a visit soon.
