Hello!

We have had a few problems at Frampton Marsh with our shiny new blog page. Hopefuly, we are out of the woods and someone will be able to read this!!!

I had a little stroll around the reserve this morning in the sunshine, and I was lucky enough to see this year's first green sandpiper. The first whimbrel was also heard by a volunteer, but not yet seen. Other waders included 60+ avocet, 50 black-tailed godwit and 6 little ringed plover.

Our barn owl box has been occupied for a while now. The female sat in the entrance this morning having a sunbathe. Three chicks were fledged from the same box last year, so fingers crossed! Watch this space for more Frampton barn owl news.

Two yellow wagtails, and four white wagtails chased bugs around the 360 hide, while 2 corn buntings sat on opposing bushes having a singing contest.

53 whooper swans remain at the reserve, as do seven twite and two white-fronted geese. We expect these birds to disappear any day now, but it is great here, so who can blame them for staying?!

Also, in the hedgerow were two chiffchaffs, a blackcap and four yellowhammers.

Brimstone, peacock and small tortoiseshels have all been seen fluttering in the sunshine.

Someone has just reported a whitethroat, so I am going to go and find it!

Cheers,

Simon.
