Howdy folks, and welcome back to the Frampton Marsh recent sightings. With me, Chris the visitor guy.
Short and sweet this week, so with no further ado, it is map time...
This was the last day the cattle egrets were seen
If you can remember the weather from last week, maybe no shock it was a bit quieter. No sightings at all on the Tuesday, as it was so manky. But, on Wednesday....
Phalarope, wow! And it has proved a little stunner, as they so often do. It has even gone and posed next to the fancy ruff. Are we in Lincolnshire or in Iceland?
Thanks to Ed Tooth for the fantastic photo. You can also see some video footage of it here.
Sorry, no map from 8 June. Maybe everything went off to vote?
And as you can see from the shadow, the sun is back. Hurrah! Some good sightings too, of various winged wonders. A female ring ouzel was a big shock. The stealth bombers were a bit of a surprise too. Though if they are stealthy, shouldn't we not have been able to see them? Answers on a postcard...
Not too much in the way of photos this week. But Neil Smith took some lovely ones of some avocet chicks
Look at those legs!
The parents are around too, and being quite protective. Even managing to bully the swans
Though not everything that is black and white and on the reedbed is an avocet....
Now, if all of this has whetted your appetite and you were wanting to visit us, a warning about the loos. We are currently in the middle of renovating them. As a result, the hand driers are not working. In fact they have been removed completely. Please use the paper towels provided (and if there are a lot of you, please give us a heads up so we don't run out!)
If you are going to visit us, you can keep up to day with the sightings by following our Twitter account. No need to have an account yourself, we make it so everyone can see it. If you do tweet yourself, please remember to use #RSPBframpton so we can see what you are posting, and also ideally mention @RSPBNorfolkLinc. If you have any good photos (or video, or even artwork) we'd love to see that too. Tweet it, or share it on our Facebook page or our Flickr account.
This pretty much wraps up another edition of the sightings blog. I hope you all have a great week, take care, have fun, and I will catch you next time.
Reedbed, freshwater scrapes, saltmarsh and wet meadow. Frampton Marsh has it all! Come and pay us a visit soon.
