A very quick sightings update this week as I'm away from the office and my laptop doesn't quite have the sightings map making skills as my work desktop. Fortunately things aren't drastically different from last weeks map. The water pipits are still in the same area and so are the water rail and bulfinches. New additions to the map include sanderling on the wet grassland behind East Hide and merlin from the raptor viewpoint. We've had no report of the Cetti's warbler this week but our whoopers are still regular roosters on the scrapes and pink-footed geese are still commuting across the reserve each evening in good numbers.
The weekend saw a return of an old friend, or maybe a new one, with a rough-legged buzzard over the wet grassland. Unfortunately this didn't linger into the week but may still be out there. A write up from a visit on Saturday can be found here and John's total's from Sunday here.
Several reports of Taiga bean geese have reported over the week but unfortunately they have yet to be picked out from the hundreds of pink-footed geese by anyone other than the finders. One hopes a few more keen eyes can look this week and hopefully pin them down for everyone to enjoy.
Will try and pop the weekly sightings map up next week so do check back here if you want it but do remember we are posting regular-ish maps on our twitter feed.
I shall leave you with a heads up that there are some big tides next week and definitely worth an early morning visit. We may well get a boost in our already high numbers and hopefully a bit of variety too.
Sorry it's been so brief but that's all from me this week. Enjoy your weekend everyone, and if you can't wait 7 days to know what's going on here, keep your finger on the Lincolnshire Wash Reserves pulse by following us on Twitter and giving us a ‘like’ on Facebook. Alternatively if you enjoy taking pictures and have a Flickr account then please join our group and share your images with everyone.
