As you know, autumn's probably the most exciting times for birdwatching, especially on the Wash.
So I'm not phased that August's flown by as I'm looking forward to seeing what the next few months bring to the reserve (not too much wind and rain please).

Here's a quick rundown of the highlights for this week:

Red necked phalarope - still showing well on the scrapes
Ruddy shelduck - on the reedbed today (Friday)
Yellow wagtail - in front of 360 Hide this week
Curlew sandpiper - showing on the scrapes all week
Black necked grebe - back on the scrapes after a brief sojourn on the wet grassland
Black tailed godwit - 2000+  on the reedbed and scrapes
Merlin - hunting over the saltmarsh and wet grassland
Wheatear - down the path towards the sea wall and various places around the trails
Kingfisher - this is a rare visitor for us and they don't often stay long, but one was spotted in the ditches by East Hide today

Weekend tides

Saturday - 07.08 @ 7.80m and 19.46 @ 7.39m
Sunday -   07.45 @ 7.89m and 20.19 @ 7.36m

It's a high tide, and that means a High Tide Walk at Freiston Shore. 7am - 9 am with Graham the warden and there are still places available so call 01205 724678 to book.
