There is a week of half-term holiday Halloween hi-jinks with the RSPB at their Frampton Marsh site, and they are dying to see you!
Starting on Saturday 20 October and running every day through the holiday, you can follow a spooktacular treasure trail around the reserve.
If you are brave enough, you can pick up an entry sheet from the visitor centre before setting off around the surfaced trails. As you go you will find discover spooky stories about some familiar furry and feathered friends, before being asked questions. If you answer correctly you win a sweet treat. But watch out for the Shuck, Frampton’s very own haunted hound!
The treasure trail is suitable for children aged 5 to 12 and costs £2.00. See here for more details.
You can encourage your budding David Attenborough on Wednesday 24 October, with a ‘Birds for Kids’ course.
This child-friendly event will teach your kids how to tell which bird is which, before putting theory into practice with a walk on the reserve.
There are two sessions, at 11 am and 2 pm, costing £2.50 per child, with advance booking essential. See here for more details.
Reserve entry fees apply for both of these events. No dogs (other than The Shuck) are allowed on the events.
Chris Andrews, Visitor Experience Manager for the reserve, said; “The dark nights are drawing in and Halloween is upon us. Come and enjoy the thrills and chills of our spooky half-term events.”
If fiendish thrills are not your thing and you prefer a walk on the wildside, try the High Tide Spectacular at the RSPB’s other local reserve, at Freiston Shore.
At high tide, hundreds of wading birds pour into the reserve, creating a real spectacle of nature. A special event on Sunday 28 October will let you see this, with commentary by RSPB staff.
The event starts at 7:15 am, with places costing £10 and requiring advance booking. See here for more details.
