At your wits end with the kids this Christmas holiday? Then get down to RSPB Frampton Marsh for some festive fun!

Running during the school holidays, you can hunt for some winter wildlife.

Collect an entry sheet from the heated visitor centre before venturing out onto the reserve’s surfaced paths to find the Christmas creatures.

Once you have found them, take a photo with your camera or phone. Once you have found them all, show the photos to the centre staff to win a prize.

To take part in the event is completely free. You can even start one day and come back another to complete it.

Also running through the school holidays (22 December to 6 January) there is a free colouring competition for the younger visitors.

Colouring sheets featuring a robin can be picked up from the visitor centre. Your child can then colour them in using the crayons provided. Or you can take them home to fill in at leisure, before bringing them back. At the end of the holidays the best sheet will win a prize!

The nature reserve is also a great place to visit to walk off all those mince pies. Level, surfaced paths and plenty of wildlife to spot make it ideal for all the family.

If you are finding the pre-Christmas rush a bit much, unwind and join a guided walk on Sunday 23 December.

You will join a local volunteer to discover more about the site and its wonderful winter wildlife.

The walk will go through the parts of the reserve which are accessible for dogs, so you can even bring a four-footed friend.

The event starts at 10 am, and costs £4 per adult (children half price).

If you don’t want to go on an organized event, the reserve is a great place for a festive family stroll. It is open every day, with surfaced paths suitable for wheelchairs and buggies.

The visitor centre is closed on Christmas Day only, and open 9:30 am to 4 pm at all other times. It is warm with central heating, toilets, snacks and hot and cold drinks.
