Hello,

There will be some disturnbance to the RSPB Frampton Marsh scrapes on 23/24 October. One of our ecologists will be using a laser level to help us find the levels of our scrapes. We need this information to better understand water depths across each scrape at different times of year This will enable us to know what work we might have to do to ensure we can drain them down completely, and so that there are wet areas around the islands and near to our hides for our birds and visitors to enjoy! (Visitors will not enjoy the water close to the hides, they will enjoy the birds that enjoy the water close to the hides!)

There will be a lot of disturbance to birds on both of these days, so we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.

Over the next few days we will see the highest tides of the year. If you can get to any coastal or tidal sites when the tide is above 7.5m (listed below), you will witness a real spectacle! RSPB Frampton Marsh or Freiston Shore will both have their saltmarshes completely covered by the sea. The rising tides will force thousands of wading birds, including knot, dunlin, black-tailed godwits, oystercatchers and passage migrants such as little stints and curlew sandpipers on to the safe islands provided on both reserves.
