No, not a comment on the footy. More a reflection on the change in weather between Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday was lovely, wasn't it? Not quite time to break out the "What a Scorcher!" headlines in the tabloids, but all rather pleasant. Warm(ish) for the time of year and sunny. Sunday on the other hand was grey and cold and the easterly wind was what is often described as a 'lazy wind'. In other words it didn't want to spend the time going around you, so it went through you instead. Maybe as a result of the weather change there were an awful lot more visitors about on the Saturday than there were on the Sunday. Strange that...

In terms of wildlife, the geese were all in good shape. Brent, greylag, canada, that other canada, barnacle and white fronted all being seen. A party of nine Bewick swans were spotted on the Saturday too, plus a good smattering of winter ducks. One sight that impressed people was the number of little grebes about. The corner of the wet grassland near to where the road meets the sea wall is flooded, and a good dozen grebes were to be found there.

Birds of prey provided the "wow" moments though, especially on Sunday. A peregrine went past the visitor centre windows, only a few metres away. And a lovely male hen harrier gave really close views, at one point being only a few feet above the car park.

On a rather furrier side of things, on the Sunday a stoat came hunting in and around the centre. Even making a playful pass at the birds under the feeders, who of course avoided it with ease.

Reedbed, freshwater scrapes, saltmarsh and wet meadow. Frampton Marsh has it all! Come and pay us a visit soon.
