After the blog post earlier this week in which we introduced our new conservation intern, we now have another 'hello' blog. This time we'd like to introduce Jenny, who will be the Visitor Experience intern for the next six months. Take it away Jenny!
----------------------------------------------
Hi! I’m Jenny and for the next six months I will be joining the team at RSPB Frampton Marsh as a visitor experience intern. Pleased to meet you!
I’ve only been here a few short days but I have already faced some of the most atmospheric weather that the fine county of Lincolnshire has to offer. In five short days there has been pouring showers, sunshine (for a glorious twenty minutes!) and Lincolnshire’s iconic 30+ mile an hour winds. I can certainly say I’m looking forward to the summer months when the rain will hopefully be slightly warmer.
The summer will also bring an exciting series of activities and events for visitors of all ages. The family activities include an Easter egg trail (provided I can resist eating all the chocolate eggs before then) and summer activities including pond-dipping, bug hunting and much more! There will also be plenty of interesting events for both the beginner and the expert birdwatcher as the seasons change and an incredible range of birds arrive and depart from the reserve. I look forward to welcoming all of you!
I have a confession to make. I am not a birdwatcher (shock horror!), but over the next six months I certainly plan to become one, and what a place to start! I’ve already been welcomed by a short-eared owl, a group of avocets huddled together against the wind and two playful brown hares, amongst others. I look forward to seeing many more rare and beautiful creatures during my time here…once I’ve figured out which end of the scope to look through!
See you all out on the reserve!
