Thank you for supporting our peatland restoration project

You may remember last month we asked for your support for our peatland restoration project which was in the running to receive funding from European Outdoor Conservation Association. A huge thank you to everyone who took a moment to vote for us! With the results now counted and verified our project finished in second place in the nature category.

Although this means that we haven’t secured this EOCA funding we were absolutely overwhelmed by the support we received! The response we had from you was fantastic not only from the number of votes for our project but also people’s enthusiasm for this really important work that’s taking place here at Forsinard Flows. It was really inspiring to hear why you were supporting us and what the Flow Country means to you.

Here on the reserve spring is arriving. The hen harriers will be displaying their sky dance soon, flowers are starting to emerge around the pools, and the sound of waders can be heard in the straths and then on the peatlands for the next few months. Why not pay us a visit to experience this amazing landscape and the wildlife it is home to for yourself?  You can also learn more about peatland’s role as a carbon store and the restoration work taking place here at our refurbished visitor centre which will open in Mid May.

Once again a very big thank you to all of you who supported us with the EOCA vote.
