Although there's lots to see and do at the Flatford Wildlife Garden, there are of course many other Wildlife Gardens to visit throughout the UK.

Even though the early flourish of romantic summer wild flowers such as cuckoo flower, oxeye daisies, cowslips and campions may have bloomed and gone, there are many later flowering species to enjoy, still offering nectar for our garden pollinators as well as shrubs, trees and grasses to provide continuing food and shelter.

Visiting any garden (in good weather!) can be a feast for the senses for the whole family and wildlife gardens are of course providing beauty as well as teaching us more about the fascinating living world around us.

The famous RHS gardens at Wisley in Surrey have opened a new wildlife garden this summer designed by Chelsea Flower Show Gold medal winner Ann-Marie Powell so if you're travelling that way on your holidays, it could be well worth a look to see her amazing work on a large, communal scale.

Gardener's World online suggest their top ten wildlife gardens to visit and Great British Gardens have some great suggestions too.

As many of us are travelling around the country at the moment, it's good to know whether there could be a wildlife garden nearby to visit and pick up some new inspiration to bring home. ...and if you come back to see us at Flatford, we'd love to hear about what you've seen and perhaps tried in your own garden.

For more inspiration on wildlife gardening, the Flatford Wildlife Garden, is currently open every day until October from 10.30am – 4.30pm. Entrance to the garden is free and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Car parking is £5 at the Flatford National Trust car park and this gives you access to the stunning countryside walks around Dedham Vale in Constable Country.
