A quick update with some of the more interesting sightings from last weekend.
Two great white egrets have been seen on the reserve as well as being seen at Ouse Fen, they may be the same birds moving around but hopefully we will see more in the future.
Reports of greenshank and turnstone on Ferry Mere as well as snipe in the same area.
There are still plenty of dragon and damsel flies around with the first ever small red eyed damselfly being seen on the reserve on Holywell pond, these have been increasing in range in recent years but this is a first for us.
The British Dragonfly Society gives more information on their website:
http://www.british-dragonflies.org.uk/species/small-red-eyed-damselfly
The butterflies are also still abundant with a clouded yellow seen alongside the more common species on the reserve.
As autumn approaches I am sure that more of the interesting sightings will happen, please update the forum posts as and when you see anything of note.
Many thanks
Pete
