We ran the fourth in our series of Deadly Dozen bug hunts on Friday, and as usual, the children found some amazing small animals.
To begin with, predators were a bit hard to find, but eventually we reached 15. We then had a vote, to remove three from the list to leave our deadly dozen of the day.
The wolf spiders were popular, as were the ichneumon wasp and green lacewing, but on this occasion it was the vegetarians that stole the show. Grasshoppers were slow enough to be caught that day, but more easily caught was everyone's favourite, a small elephant hawkmoth caterpilar.

Our next Deadly Dozen is already full, but there are spaces on later events, and lake-dipping events - see our events listing for the dates and booking details.
We have a short guided walk on Tuesday morning, and Steve and Sarah will return on Sunday 21st with a lovely selection of plants to sell. They will donate every penny they receive to RSPB Fen Drayton Lakes - what a lovely couple!
