Fieldfares - Rob Hunton (Swillington Ings Bird Group - sibg1.wordpress.com)
Many sightings are very similar to last week - marsh harriers are sighted daily (and at close quarters!) around the ridge and furrow/reedbed, joined by regular sparrowhawks, red kites and peregrine.
Winter thrushes are on the up - redwing and fieldfare are being spotted regularly around the hillside.

Kingfishers are often seen getting their fishy fill in the ditches, I spotted one yesterday afternoon sat on the banking just metres away.

There's waterfowl everywhere - the usual tufted ducks, shoveler, teal, pochard (lots!), goosander (30+ together), wigeon, gadwall, shelducks and goldeneye - to name a few.
Grumpy tufted duck - a common but favourite! Karen Speight
Redshanks have found a new favourite spot in the western reedbed, cosying up to 40 curlew and hundreds of lapwing.

Evening is bringing in gull roosts and the occasional barn owl - but not many murmurating starlings. Your best bet for those is still Fairburn Ings!
