There have been a number of raptor sightings across the reserve over the last few days. A male Peregrine was seen from both Cut hide and Village Bay hide on Wednesday, an Osprey flew over the stacks on Thursday and there have been reports of 2 Red Kites flying across newfield, the area just opposite the car park entrance, this morning.

The Garganey are back on Village Bay, as are 2 Common Terns. Shoveler were seen at pickup pool and on the flashes, with 4 pairs of Lapwing also on the flashes.

The highlight of the summer migrants over the last few days have been a male Whinchat on the flashes, a Garden Warbler on the Riverbank Trail and over 30 Swifts above the visitor centre all seen on Friday. Also around the reserve are Grasshopper, Willow, Reed and Sedge Warbler, Chiffchaff and Whitethroat, one of which has taken up residence near to the visitor centre and is serenading people on their way from the car park!

Other species of note have been a pair of Red Legged Partridge by the Kingfisher screen on Thursday, the Kingfisher itself has also been seen at the screen over the past few days and there was a Greenshank seen on the flashes earlier today
