Nature spotting can be great fun and very exciting, but unfortunately wildlife isn’t always willing to stand in front of a hide or next to the path where we could all get a good look - this is where binoculars or telescopes come in handy. However, finding the right kit can be a real challenge, we’re offering free advice sessions to visitors wanting to know more.

Throughout March our friendly and knowledgeable team will be giving visitors a brilliant opportunity to get a closer look at the binoculars and telescopes sold by the RSPB, by holding free one-to-one sessions to talk through the kit, explain what’s on offer and match the kit to customer’s needs.

These sessions will enable us to spend time with our customers to go through the kit in detail. And it’s a great excuse to get out onto the reserve and have a closer look at the wildlife here.

The sessions can be booked between 10am and 3pm, lasting around an hour, and will include a walk around Fairburn Ings with a member of the reserve team. The walk will take in some prime wildlife watching sites, giving visitors a great opportunity to test the kit and ensure it’s right for them.

The RSPB has a wide range of telescopes and binoculars with something to suit everyone’s needs and budget. From compact binoculars ideal for taking travelling, to telescopes with tripods and all the accessories, as well as an amazing range of HD binoculars, which offer high quality kit at affordable prices. All profits from Fairburn Ings’ shop sales go towards the RSPB’s conservation work.

The RSPB also sells digi-scoping kits which enable people to take amazing close up shots of wildlife by using a telescope with a compact digital or SLR camera, to magnify the image.

To book a session or find out further information, please call RSPB Fairburn Ings on 01977 628191 or email fairburnings@rspb.org.uk

If you know what equipment you would like to try out then please mention this when booking so we can ensure we have the appropriate items in stock for your visit.  If you would like to try digi-scoping, please ensure you bring along your camera.
